The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) has named Northern Lights Elementary (NLE) a 2024–25 Wisconsin School of Recognition, an honor highlighting its dedication to student growth and achievement. Northern Lights received the award in the High Impact category.
This distinction is based on a rigorous set of criteria, including academic performance, measurable progress in
student growth or graduation rates, reducing achievement gaps – particularly among students from
economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
“We are incredibly proud of our students and staff for their commitment to excellence,” Danielle Perich,
Principal at Northern Lights Elementary, said. “This recognition reflects the hard work and support of our
entire school community — including educators, families, and students. I look forward to the continued
growth in the coming years.”
The Wisconsin Schools of Recognition program honors Title I schools that are ensuring educational success
for all students, especially among those facing economic challenges. This is Northern Lights’ first School of
Recognition Award since 2017-18. Previously, NLE won the award six years in a row (2012-18).
Northern Lights Elementary was recently recognized as a school that “Meets State Expectations” from the
Wisconsin DPI report cards for the 2024-25 school year. To learn more about the Schools of Recognition
