LiveWell, an initiative of the University of Wisconsin-Superior’s Pruitt Center for Mindfulness and Well-Being, will host a foraging walk with environmental activist and author Robin Greenfield from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 2, in the Superior School Forest. The event is free and open to the public.
Greenfield is currently undertaking a yearlong project in which he forages every bite of his food and medicine, living without grocery stores, restaurants, pharmacies or a cultivated garden. Throughout the year, he is traveling across the country to educate communities about edible and medicinal plants that grow naturally and abundantly in their local environments.
During the walk, Greenfield will guide participants through the Superior School Forest and share practical knowledge about foraging safely, ethically and sustainably. The event is designed for beginners and those with an interest in deepening their connection to the natural world.
Participants will learn to:
- Identify more than 10 common edible and medicinal plants found in the region
- Forage safely and responsibly
- Harvest sustainably while supporting plant health
- Apply simple strategies for successful foraging
Registration is required and available at uwsuper.edu/Robin-Greenfield.
The Superior School Forest is located at 2155 E. School Road in Foxboro, Wisconsin.
