UW-Superior to Hold Commencement May 16

More than 730 students will be eligible to receive diplomas when the University of Wisconsin-Superior conducts its commencement on Saturday, May 16, at 2 p.m. at Siinto S. Wessman Arena.

Chancellor Renée Wachter will preside over the ceremony and present diplomas to students who have earned associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

The Chancellor’s Leadership Award will be presented to Hailey Bault, Ella Hill, Garrett Kroells and Ashla Ojibway. This award is given to members of the graduating class who are committed to personal growth and who have made a positive contribution to their peers, campus and community. 

The student address will be provided by Kidest Seabhatleabe Mitiku, who studied public leadership and changemaking with a concentration in international humanitarian law, along with minors in political science and behavioral neuroscience.

Delivering the commencement address will be William Zimmer-Wakeley, a 2017 graduate who went on to earn his doctorate in chiropractic. Zimmer-Wakeley is involved with UW-Superior, the Chamber Ambassadors and the Rotary Club of Superior.

Siinto S. Wessman Arena is located at 2701 Catlin Ave. in Superior.
