Superior Schools Introduces Tech Talk: School District of Superior Partners With Area Agencies For Internet Safety

Ensuring the safety of our students is the School District of Superior’s top priority. That includes their safety on and off the internet. On May 12, the greater Superior area is invited to the Superior Middle School Community Events Center, 3626 Hammond Ave, to learn about and experience ways Spartans can stay safe while using their email, social media and online video games.

Superior Schools, Brightwater (Formerly Known As HDC), Superior Police Department and CASDA have
teamed up to host Tech Talk: Tips & Tricks To Stay Safe Online. Superior and Douglas County families
will learn what dangers the internet poses to our children, as well as tips and tricks on how to intervene in
these risky situations. This will include safety tips for social media and online video games.

Speakers include:

• Sgt. Sean Holmgren, Superior Police Department (Internet Crimes Against Children)
• Sam Rawn, Brightwater Health’s Project Reach Out – Anti-Human Trafficking Coordinator
• Desiree Tody, CASDA – Ashland and Bayfield Outreach Program Coordinator
• Nestor Martinez

“This event is fantastic for all students and their families, especially those in middle school,” said Sam Rawn.
“Internet safety is so crucial today, and we want to ensure all our children are knowledgeable and are
prepared for any online situation. “

Tech Talk will begin at 5 p.m. The event will be live-streamed on the School District of Superior’s YouTube
