Northwood Technical College and American Welding Society Arrowhead Section to
Host 2026 Behind the Mask Welding Competition in Superior.
WHAT: Northwood Technical College’s Superior campus, in collaboration with the American Welding Society
(AWS) Arrowhead Section, will host the 2026 AWS Behind the Mask Welding Competition. The event
showcases the skills of technical college welding students as they compete in cutting and welding
categories while connecting with industry professionals.
WHO: Attendees will include Northwood Tech College leadership, members of the Superior Chamber of Commerce, community members, local employers and more.
WHEN: Wednesday, March 26, 2026
Competition: 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Career & Vendor Fair: Noon – 4:30 p.m.
Awards announced: 4:30 p.m.
WHERE: Northwood Technical College – Superior Campus. 600 N. 21st. Street
DETAILS: Students may compete in Oxy-Fuel Cutting (OFC), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW). Cash prizes will be awarded to top finishers, and raffle prizes will also be available.
