Great Lakes Elementary Welcomes David Jensen As New Principal

Northern Lights Elementary Assistant Principal Heads to Become Eagle

The School District of Superior is proud to announce David Jensen as the next principal of
Great Lakes Elementary. Jensen currently serves as the school’s interim principal and will settle in the role
permanently. He previously was the Assistant Principal at Northern Lights Elementary before moving to Great
Lakes on Jan. 1, 2026.

Jensen joined the school district in 2008 and served as a 2nd-grade teacher and later a social studies teacher
at Superior Middle School. Jensen moved into an administrative role during the 2017-2018 school year. In
2022, he returned to the elementary level as the Assistant Principal at Northern Lights Elementary.

Outside of the building, Jensen has worked with youth of the community while coaching football, basketball and softball along with serving as a volunteer DNR ATV safety instructor.

“Mr. Jensen has already demonstrated a deep commitment to our students’ success and a collaborative spirit
that resonates throughout our hallways,” said Dr. Amy Starzecki, Superior District Administrator. “We believe
that making his leadership permanent provides Great Lakes with the stability and vision necessary to
continue thriving. We are incredibly fortunate to have Mr. Jensen at the helm, and I know he is eager to
continue building strong relationships with all of our Eagles.”
