About Douglas County

Douglas County is the fourth largest county in Wisconsin (land area) with 1,342 square miles and lies in the northwest corner of the state. Most of the county is within a half hour’s drive from Superior, the County Seat. The Superior-Duluth harbor ranks 26th in the nation in tonnage. Transportation, tourism, health care, education and manufacturing are major providers of employment for Douglas County residents today. The mission of Douglas County is to provide cost-effective services, with equal access to all citizens; to continue and enhance partnerships; to responsibly manage our resources and plan for the future.

We believe strong communities are built through understanding, collaboration, and local pride, and storytelling plays a meaningful role in that process.

While our roots stretch back more than five decades, Positively Superior Magazine continues to evolve. Today, we pair our long-standing reputation with a modern approach to storytelling across print and digital platforms. The goal remains the same as it has always been, to provide meaningful, well-told stories that reflect the real Superior.
