For the second time in four years, Superior Middle School (SMS) is hosting Kids Voting Day
to give students hands-on experience with the democratic process. Leading up to the event, students
participate in lessons focused on civil discourse, civic responsibilities, key election issues and voting
procedures.
On Tuesday, Nov. 3, SMS students will cast their ballots in a simulated election. Twenty Superior High School
students will assist with running the event, and school administrators are seeking 10 community volunteers
to help manage the polling location and count votes.
“When we did the mock vote in 2024, it was an incredible experience for our students,” said Amanda
Lindquist, SMS Instructional Coach. “We made it as much like a polling place as possible. We were lucky to
get many community member volunteers in addition to students from the high school.”
