Everyone is invited to attend the second in a series of three free events designed for bird observers of all skill and ability levels. Join Everyone Can Bird: Graduation to Migration from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 24, at Barker’s Island, near the Lake Superior Estuarium, 3 Marina Drive, Superior.
In July, baby birds begin leaving the nest and learning to fly and hunt alongside their parents. Join us in celebrating this exciting stage in the lives of young birds.
People of all ages and abilities are welcome at this accessible birding event. Participants can join a guided bird walk along the pathways of Barker’s Island or explore additional bird-related activities at their own pace.
American Sign Language interpretation will be provided. Binoculars, a spotting scope, a wheelchair-mounted binocular system and portable seating will be available for use. A Trackchair — an all-terrain, electric-powered wheelchair designed for use on trails — as well as a scooter and walkers, will also be available courtesy of indiGO.
Participants are welcome to stay for the entire event or join and leave as needed. Light refreshments will be provided. A wheelchair-accessible portable restroom will be available on-site, and two ADA-accessible indoor restrooms are located inside the Lake Superior Estuarium.
Registration is encouraged but not required. Free bus transportation will depart at 9:20 a.m. from the Superior Public Library and at 9:25 a.m. from UW-Superior Parking Lot 2 behind Burger King. To reserve a seat on the bus, register at: uwsuper.edu/birding.
Participants are encouraged to use the free bus service to help preserve parking spaces for those who need them.

The Friends of the Lake Superior Reserve, the City of Superior, LiveWell, Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory, indiGO, Lake Superior Reserve, Minnesota Land Trust and Wisconsin Sea Grant are hosting the event.
The final Everyone Can Bird outing of the year will be held Oct. 11 at Hawk Ridge in Duluth.
